Loved and loving husband to Patricia, father to Rachel and Anna, partner to Christine, grandad to Nina and Serenity, and dear friend to many.
Barry was born in Grimsby, met Tricia when they were students in Reading, taught English and film at Bolton Institute for many many years, and retired in 2005 to Manchester, where he continued to teach poetry until last year.
Barry’s funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday 16 July at St Ninian’s Church on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton. There’s no need to buy flowers, but if you like do bring a flower from your garden or a walk and place it with Barry’s coffin from 10:45am. You can also make a donation to the Woodland Trust – there’ll be a donation box at the church and at the house.
After the funeral, all are welcome at Barry’s house for food, music and company.
The church has a car park and there is some on-street parking close by. Please don’t leave your cars in the church car park after the funeral.
