The coffins that we provide (bamboo, willow, cane, seagrass, pandanus) are independently tested and certified for quality by the Funeral Furnishing Manufacturers Association and/or Coffin, Casket and Shroud Association (CCSA).
They have a solid flat cremation base making them suitable for crematorium equipment. Please note that not all coffins sold on-line on other websites are certified for quality and therefore won’t be acceptable for use by many funeral directors.
Yes they are entirely biodegradable. They contain no screws or fittings that aren’t natural. They are suitable for natural woodland burials.
You are not obliged to purchase a coffin from your funeral director. It is a good idea to let them know your intentions. Many people choose to buy a coffin from us as they feel the price is too high from their chain funeral director or that the range offered is limited.
As soon as possible. We like to allow enough time to arrange a replacement if the coffin is damaged in transit, though damage rarely happens. So we advise that you order the coffin at least three working days before the funeral.
If you place an order before 11am (Monday to Friday) we will aim to deliver the coffin within 48 hours (Monday to Friday) before mid day. Delivery may take longer if you live in north Scotland.
This is not a guaranteed delivery time but it has been rare for coffins to arrive late.
You can have it delivered either to a private address or to a funeral director. We do not deliver outside of the UK.
The price is displayed beside the image of the coffin (you may need to swipe left on a mobile or tablet). This includes delivery to most areas within the mainland UK. Some areas of northern Scotland may have to pay a little more for delivery. (The only additional costs are for nameplate, if required, £30). Payment by debit card or bacs transfer.
There is no vat added to the cost. The price is as listed.

You can pay by credit or debit card through our website, or by direct bank transfer.
We will send you a receipt that can be claimed with the rest of the funeral expenses from the person who has died’s estate at a later date.
Most coffins used in the UK are veneered chipboard. Funeral director’s charges vary for the cost of a veneered chipboard coffin. As an example when we are arranging a funeral in Manchester or Cheshire the price that we charge is £400 for a traditional wood veneer coffin. We do not hold a large stock of these coffins though, and do not deliver them.
The coffins are very strong and tested to carry up to 150kg / 23 stone. The coffin handles are woven into the structure and are stronger than handles on a traditional coffin. They are independently tested and certified. We can provide proof of testing.
The largest coffin is the Bamboo Eco which is 7ft x 26″ internally.
All our coffins are lined with a biodegradable waterproof lining and a second unbleached cosmetic cotton lining.
All crematoriums require a nameplate and most cemeteries also do. It needs to have the legal name of the person that has died. Sometimes a second piece of information as well such as age or birth and death dates. You can add anything else as long as the above information is clear.
You could even make one yourself. We’ve had people embroider nameplates, print off the computer, or the children of the family have made one.
