Andrew Chiu
25th May 1970 – 5th July 2024
A kind, capable, caring, funny, and intelligent man; Andrew was a dutiful and loving son to Yu Ning; brother to Rachel; brother-in-law to John; uncle of Kirby, Ella and Harvey; and friend to many. He was committed to his family, his work but also his self-cultivation, and we’re grateful for all the time we shared with him, and sad that our journey through life couldn’t have been for longer.
· Andrew will have a graveside service and burial in Southern Cemetery, Manchester, M20 2LT (in the newer part north of Nell Lane) at 11am on Monday the 29th of July. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
· After the burial you are welcome to gather at Hulme Community Garden Centre, M15 5RG, at 12pm, where there will be a memorial service in the Marque, starting at 12:15pm. There will be tea, coffee and food afterwards.
· After the gathering in the garden centre some might like to continue sharing memories of Andrew at Kim’s Kitchen, M15 5RF, just across the road.
You are welcome to bring a wildflower to the cemetery, which you are invited to place in the grave with Andrew.
Please bring an umbrella with you if the weather forecast predicts rain.
Wear what you are comfortable in, and don’t feel the need to wear black.
Whilst not necessary if you are planning on joining would you please RSVP to john.mccrea@gmail.com if you haven’t already.
In lieu of flowers, we are raising money for some local charities who support causes which were close to Andrew’s heart: the arts, young people and adult social care.
