Jean Kay
4 January 1942 – 7 September 2024

Loving wife to Gordon, mother to Steven and Joanne, sister to Ian, Alison and Susan, and beloved friend. A creative and vivacious woman, quick to love, laugh, and help others.

Jean’s funeral ceremony will be held at 3.30pm on Monday 23 September 2024 at East Lancashire Crematorium, Cemetery Road, Radcliffe M26 4EU.  (Click here for map)

No need to wear formal mourning attire. Whether bright colours or black, please just wear whatever you like best.

You are invited to bring a single flower or a sprig of greenery, either from your garden or picked from nature. Jean loved wildflowers so anything not bought in a shop is encouraged. There will be a moment in the ceremony where you are invited to place this tribute on her willow coffin. There’s no obligation to get up if you don’t want to, and we’ll have spare greenery on the day if you do want to, but haven’t brought anything.

Other than the one flower/leaf we ask you not to bring any other flower arrangements. If you would like to make a gift in Jean’s memory, she asked for donations to Woodland Trust or Bury Hospice.

Woodland Trust work to create and protect habitat for the butterflies, wildflowers and birds that were Jean’s lifelong passion and joy. www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/support-us/give/in-memory

Bury Hospice provided kind-hearted, practical support to help Jean and her family live well with dementia. www.buryhospice.org.uk/donate

Friends and family are invited to join us after the funeral for a celebration of Jean’s life at Pike Fold Golf Club, Hills Lane, Unsworth, Bury, BL9 8QP from 5-7pm. (Click here for map)

Although not essential, if you are planning on joining please RSVP to jo.kay@jokay.me
