Jonny Banyard
8th March 1986 – 28th September 2022
Celebration Of Life Ceremony
Sunday 6th November at 2pm
Held at NIAMOS, Warwick St, Hulme, Manchester M15 5EU
Please join us to honour the life of our dearly beloved Jonny Banyard, who privately struggled with severe mental health issues including chronic depression and substance misuse, and tragically took his own life on the 28th September.
A ceremony will take place between 2:00 – 2:30 (approx), followed by a wake during which all guests will be invited to share their memories and tributes to Jonny in a relaxed open mic style format. Poems, anecdotes, stories, and songs all welcome. Please be compassionate, thoughtful, and respectful in light of the presence of his family.
Although this is a deeply sad occasion, it will also be a celebration of everything that made Jonny the wonderful person he was. It is an opportunity for all who knew and loved him to gather and support each other, to remember him, and to process the pain that follows his final decision. Full presence and connectedness is required to do this.
With that in mind, please respect the request of the family that no recreational drugs be taken before or during your attendance of this event, and that alcohol be used sensitively and in moderation.
We know grief is processed by everyone in different ways. We invite you to joyfully celebrate his life however you wish after this event. If you choose to attend, please be mindful of the circumstances that led to Jonny taking his own life, and respect the wishes of his family that his wake is used as a time to remember, honour and celebrate him with as much presence and connection as possible.
Jonny wasn’t a formal guy so this won’t be a formal event. Come dressed in your tropical best.
IMPORTANT – Please RSVP to jonnysfarewell@gmail.com – we need to know how many people are attending so that the correct amount of catering can be ordered.
The family request that instead of sending floral tributes a donation is made to his memorial fundraiser in the hope that a tragedy like this can be prevented from happening to other families. Just Giving.
