Mary Brunt
3rd July 1944 – 1st May 2026
Mary was the loved and loving wife of the late Ken Brunt, mother of Andrew, mother-in-law of Amelia, and Gran to Toby, Maya and Tom.
Mary was born in Hyde, and lived in Stalybridge and Ashton until marrying Ken in 1965, and they moved to Hollingworth soon after. Andrew came along in 1971. The family moved to Winter Hill Farm, Carrbrook in 1975 – where Mary would spend the next 50 years, including many happy ones with Ken, until his passing in 2019. Mary loved nature and the outdoors, riding horses and walking her dogs over the moors. She spent her final years being cared for in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, close to her family, where she also appreciated the surrounding countryside, enjoying walks right until the end.
Mary’s funeral will be held at 13:30, Friday 22nd May at Dukinfield Crematorium (Hall Green Rd, Dukinfield, SK16 4EP), and afterwards at Buckton Vale Institute (1 Long Row, Carrbrook, Stalybridge SK15 3PG).
Please wear anything you feel comfortable in – don’t feel you need to wear black. We ask that you don’t buy flowers, but would welcome you to bring a flower from your garden or one you have found in your local area, to place with Mary.
If you would like to make a donation in Mary’s memory, we are collecting to support the work of The Donkey Sanctuary, a charity Mary supported for many years. There will be a donations box at the crematorium.
