Pamela Goodison/Nancarrow
27th March 1937 – 7th of March 2026
Pamela’s funeral will be held at 13:00 on Saturday the 21st of March 2026 at Natural Endings, Todmorden, OL14 7AA.
Her son Bruce has written this tribute:
My mum battled severe dementia for several years, which for her and many like her was the worst possible torment. She was a legend to many and a monster to some. A fierce feminist, a dancer on tables and champion of the underdog – and rescuer of actual dogs. Politically acute and self-determined. She took no prisoners and was a proud Yorkshire woman. Adopted as a toddler by a Methodist couple and would herself adopt when she could – sometimes unofficially! My sisters Rachel and Lisa lived in a bustling home that played refuge to many displaced people needing a place of safety.
After her divorce from my Dad she moved back to her native Yorkshire – making over several houses with her impeccable taste. She re-married a fool, came to her senses, and divorced the ‘fool’, then set up a healing business and took a degree in Fine Art. Her great love. She is now, I hope, in her place of safety. You will be missed.
Please wear what you are comfortable in, there is no need to wear black. This won’t be a traditional service. You will all be invited to write down your memories on a note provided to tie on to her eco-friendly bamboo coffin. She will be cremated with your messages.
Family flowers only please. Donations in Pam’s memory are invited to Dementia UK.
After the funeral ceremony you are invited to the White Hart, Todmorden, OL14 7BD, for drinks and a small buffet. There will be an upstairs room reserved for the reception.
Natural Endings is next to the train station, with train connections between Manchester and Leeds. There is parking available in Todmorden town centre, for a small hourly fee. We have a couple of parking space for those with limited mobility, please get in touch to reserve a space.
