We’re happy to announce that Natural Endings has a new home in the Former Postal Sorting Office in the heart of Todmorden. (Don’t worry we are still supporting families from our base in South Manchester as well). It is a great privilege to be here in this beautiful building.
The space includes a beautiful hall with a high ceiling that is full of natural light with views of trees. We will be hosting full funeral services either prior to the cemetery/crematorium or instead of attending the crematorium. We also hope to develop new ways of gathering to say goodbye such as a gathering the evening before the funeral day.
The space can be decorated however you wish and the service can be as long as you need instead of being rushed through a crematorium. Funerals and memorials can even be held in the evening or at a weekend.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the different ways that families and communities occupy the space. The space gives us so much more scope to do what we really love doing. Supporting families to use their own skills to create really meaningful and personal farewells.
Our building was built in 1924 by the Royal Mail and is in a style sympathetic to The Old Hall that it is joined to. We know that lots of people were sorry to see them sell it in 2020. But now you’re able to use it again. Not just for funerals and memorials. It is a hireable space for events based around well being, art, environment, music, workshops and trainings.
We are opening the doors on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd July with an art exhibition ‘Loss and Memory’ as part of Hebden Bridge Open Studio’s Gallery Trail. This the first of many events that we will host. We also have programmed in a celebrant training, a psychotherapist conference and ‘Outside The Box’ play. See our events page. In October we’ll have a formal opening and open day.
