Description
Jute coffins are made with Bengal grown jute, a Paulownia timber frame and bamboo handles.
At the moment, the coffin comes in one size: 6’2″ x 22″ internally. The coffins have been tested to lift up to 160kg (approx. 25 stone) in weight.
All the materials used in a jute coffin are readily biodegradable and suitable for cremation, traditional burial and woodland burial.
A jute coffin can be uniquely decorated by family and friends. Pieces could be sown on to the jute fabric, or the panels could be painted on. The coffin arrives flat-packed, as is easy to assemble. This is something Natural Endings can do for you, or perhaps you would like to be involved in the process.

- This coffin currently only comes in one size: 6’2″ x 22″ internally. This means it is not suitable for anyone that measures taller or wider than that.
- We provide this jute coffin as part of a funeral that you’re arranging with Natural Endings.
- We also sell this jute coffin for collection at our office locations in Todmorden and Stretford, or we can discuss delivery for an additional fee.
- This coffin comes with a bio-degradable waterproof lining on the bottom panel.

Does the price include delivery and VAT?
We only offer this coffin to the families we support. If you live close enough to our main office in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, we could arrange you to collect it from us. This coffin comes flatpacked, so it a bit easier to transfer than other coffins. For an additional fee we could deliver within an hours distance, if requested.
There is no VAT. If the funeral is being arranged with Natural Endings, this coffin is delivered directly to us and we do not charge you any additional delivery.
How can I purchase/order?
If you’re choosing this coffin as part of a funeral being arranged with Natural Endings, it will go on the final bill which is payable by direct bank transfer.
If you would like to purchase this coffin without the funeral being arranged by Natural Endings, please call us so we can discuss delivery/collection options.
Will you send me a receipt?
We will send you a receipt that can be claimed with the rest of the funeral expenses from the person that has died’s estate at a later date. Or you will receive a copy of your order and payment by email for all orders placed online.
What size shall I order?
The jute coffin only comes in 1 size, at the moment. The internal dimensions are 6’2″ x 22″.
Do I need a nameplate?
All crematoria and almost all burial sites require a nameplate on the coffin, as a from of identification. An engraved card can be send with this coffin, or you can make one yourself.
It will be the legal name of the person the coffin is for, date of birth and date of death. Alternatively, you can choose to have the legal name of the person the coffin is for, date of death and age.
When can I expect the coffin to be ready?
This coffin takes about a week to be delivered.
What is your returns policy?
We want you to be entirely happy with your purchase. You have the right to cancel your purchase within 28 days of the transaction, but please ensure:
- The goods are returned intact (not open and not unpacked) and that the coffin is wrapped in its original packaging to protect it in transit.
- All original delivery labels are removed.
- Due to health and safety laws we cannot accept any coffin that has contained a dead person.
We will liaise with you to arrange a collection if you are unhappy with your purchase. Please note we may charge a collection fee.
