Natural Endings are able to provide a biodegradable coffin that has a low environmental impact, as part of a funeral being arranged with ourselves, or for you to purchase directly.
For a coffin to be entirely biodegradable, they must not contain any screws or fittings that are not natural. The coffins we provide are very strong and tested to carry up to 150kg / 23 stone. The handles are woven into the structure and are stronger than handles on a traditional coffin.
We can provide many options when it comes to choosing a coffin, from traditional wooden caskets to coffins crafted from willow / wicker, bamboo, banana leaf, cane, cardboard, pandanus, seagrass, or wool.
Most of our coffins are certified by the FFMA (Funeral Furnishing Manufacturer’s Association) or the CCSA (Coffin, Casket and Shroud Association).

The simplest choice for an eco-friendly funeral is a cardboard coffin. They can be plain for painting or decorating (we are more than happy to do this for you) or pre-decorated. It is also possible to provide a drape to cover the coffin if you feel that it looks too unorthodox.
Designs for a decorative coffin made from cardboard or wood include nature scenes, animals, sports, flags, hobbies and other interests. You can also have your own photographs made into a design. Please enquire.
Pandanus leaves are woven alongside rattan when making these bio-degradable eco-coffins. Pandanus (wild pineapple) is an alternative to seagrass, when woven it is almost indistinguishable from seagrass.
Woven Seagrass coffins are an attractive light colour and can have additional rings for flowers. Certified by The Funeral Furnishing Manufacturer’s Association for quality, strength and fitness for purpose.
